Some of these--in retrospect--seem rather inappropriate for kids. My mom was rather liberal, I guess. Or else she just had no idea which movies we were watching over and over...
7) Romancing the Stone
6) The Sure Thing (John Cusak at his best... many great one-liners)
5) The Three Amigos (again... the one-liners)
4) The Princess Bride
3) Labyrinth
2) The Dark Crystal
1) The Never Ending Story
Honorable mentions: E.T., Sheena: Queen of the Jungle, Tron

I saw "Princess Bride" when I was in college (you're so progressive! And much younger...but I digress). I adore it and am going to take the kids when our church shows it in the park next month.
Others I loved: "Ghostbusters," "The Muppet Movie," "101 Dalmatians" and "Lady & the Tramp"
@Stephanie- Oh! How could I forget Ghostbusters? Yeah, that one deserves an horonable mention. (ps- you aren't that much older than I. I was an older kid when I saw The Princess Bride for the first time.)
'Princess Bride' must be the endorsed church event movie. Every all nighter my youth group hosted always included it.
I can't watch it now without feeling like I am trapped with 30 other teenagers - or feeling 16 again.
Maybe I should put it on now.
I just got Romancing the Stone and The Sure Thing on dvd. I was almost as excited as the day my kids were born. I was jumping up and down with everyone walking past looking at me and then into the bin to see if there was cash in there. Man I love the Wal-mart movie bin!!
Princess Bride and 3 AMigos--loved them!
The last Dragon, Do you remember that movie??
